Afternoon Classes 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

1.  Funky Diamonds
Taught by: Bonnie Miles
Pattern Fee: $1.00

Gather your favorite scraps - any fabric style - but the brighter ones make a great quilt.  Include some that really “zing”, and come prepared to make a truly unique quilt. The blocks are very large, and the quilt goes together quickly, once you have your diamonds constructed. If you want to make this baby size, thatʼs possible too. Weʼll have lots of suggestions for making this larger or smaller, and some pretty creative techniques to share. Come prepared to try out some fun ideas. My granddaughters LOVE this quilt!

2.  "10 Minute" Block Quilt
Taught by: Shannon White

Create fast inset center blocks with a simple three seam technique. And guess what!  Those edges can be coaxed to curve without sewing any curved seams.   It's quilting magic, a quilter's dream come true.  This entire quilt can be pieced in a single morning.  It's a great way to use up leftover squares or a pre-cut 10" layer cake.

4.  Dots & Dashes
Taught by: Bonnie Miles
Finished Size: 45" x 45"
Pattern Fee: $1.00

This sweet little quilt has so many possibilities for using a variety of fabrics. The samples youʼll see are made from 1930ʼs and Civil War reproduction fabrics. However, they are equally as fun made from todayʼs brights, Kaffe Fassett fabrics, seasonal or baby fabrics. (Even flannels) Look through your stash and find something to use, or pick up a new line youʼve wanted to try. The quilt will go together quickly if youʼll take the time BEFORE CLASS to get the circles appliqued on to the squares. Mine are done with a machine buttonhole stitch, and look just great. You can choose your method, but be easy on yourself. This is meant to be fun ! The “maze” of the quilt is created by the way you lay out the “tracks” between the dots. Youʼll want to make more than one. (I did !)

7.  English Applique - CLASS IS FULL
Taught by: Flora Gillman
Kit Fee: $4.00

ENGLISH APPLIQUE (also called "back basting") is my favorite method.  If we want to applique well, we need an arsenal of methods under our belt: needle turn, freezer paper, machine, blanket stitch applique are all helpful.  If you have a full pattern in front of you, I prefer to "back baste."  This unusual method gives easy and excellent results.  We will tackle a traditional OAK LEAF block in our 3 hour class.  Come and try it and you will be hooked! Kits will be provided for $4.00.  You will just need to bring a smile!

9. Perfect 10
Taught by: Flora Gillman
Pattern: $8.00

Nothing easier than using this Swirly Girls pattern to piece a quick, cute contemporary quilt.  We will take time to discuss and practice "fussy cutting" to enhance this very simple quilt.  You need to bring 10 coordinating fat quarters (be very careful of value!) and 1 1/2 yards of background or framing.  I like solid for this.  Mine is Snow Kona.  Please no pre-cutting.  There is nothing to it,  and we will have plenty of time in a 3 hour class to about finish this top.

17. Strip Around the World
Taught by: Sandy Varley

I almost named this one “Bachelor Party” because of all the stripping! Use your leftover jelly roll strips along with strips from your stash to make fast and easy scrappy squares that combine to make an overall Trip Around the World pattern. This quilt is a cousin of my Happy Scrappy Bargello that I taught last year, but goes faster, and can use up even more fabric.

19. Garden Party
Taught by: Sandy Varley

Description:. Cheerful folk-art flowers joyously bloom in this fun little quilt. Each flower blooms log-cabin-style from an odd-shaped center. Precision piecing is discouraged, and no two flowers will be alike, even in your own quilt. A demo of simple hand-applique for the leaves will be included, or you may machine appliqué them or use the F-word (fusing).
Size: Small table topper or wall quilt. My 3-block quilt measures about 12 x 18.

Pattern Book: $18.00 (optional)
Template: $7.50

This is a fun project to do by sewing 4 - 5" squares together, adding a border then using the template to cut.  Sewing them back together magically creates a pinwheel!  Uses 5" squares or a charm pack.

21. Sarah's Bag
Taught by: Bonnie Bailey
Pattern: $4.00

Sarah's bag is a very simple bag to make.  It has a magnetic closure on the flap.  Can be used as a large purse or to carry books and binders.  It has long shoulder straps, making the drop about 15".  We'll go through different options of embellishing the bag to your liking.  The pleat in the front gives it personality, and looks tricky, but never fear...it is very easy!
